Transferring to a new institution can be a confusing process, and there are many things to consider, such as making sure credits transfer, obtaining financial aid, declaring a major, receiving academic support, determining residency, and getting connected to the campus community.
Listed below are links to help you get the information you need to put the pieces together.
Major:
Students should select a major because they are interested in that subject and because it provides a good “Plan B.” Plan Bs are always needed in case students change their minds or are not admitted to a graduate veterinary or human health profession graduate program.
Admissions:
A student who is interested in veterinary medicine or human health professions will apply to CSU just as any other student does. There is no special admissions process for "Pre-Health." All general questions should be directed to the Admissions Office at (970) 491-6909 or by email to
admissions@colostate.edu.
Financial Aid:
Financial Aid questions should be directed to the Financial Services Office at (970) 491-6321.
The Honors Program:
For information about the Honors Program call (970) 491-5679 or email
honors@colostate.edu.
Orientation:
Most transfer students will register for fall courses when they attend one of the summer orientation sessions called Next Step:
www.orientation.colostate.edu/transfer. This information will be sent to any student who confirms with CSU. You should select as early a Next Step date as possible. This will provide you with the best selection of courses. Students who live outside the state of Colorado will have the option of registering from home in a process called "remote advising." They will need to contact their major advisor and arrange a phone appointment during which the advisor will walk them through the registration process. ("Remote advising" occurs later in the registration process than a number of Next Step dates, and high-demand courses may be full by then.)
