Welcome to Health Professions at CSU

Are you interested in pursuing a health profession, but not sure where to start?

Whether you want to be a doctor, nurse, dentist, veterinarian, or work in occupational or physical therapy, our advisors can help!

While professional health programs expect and need students to have a solid background in the basic biological and physical sciences, they neither prefer nor recommend any particular undergraduate major. The set of required prerequisite and recommended courses can be accomplished within any undergraduate major at Colorado State.

The majority of students choose to major in a biologically based major, because that is where their interest are. However, we have had successful students go on to professional health programs with majors as diverse as anthropology, business, engineering, foreign languages, and visual arts. There is no “right major” for preparation for a health professions program, only a right major for you.

Therefore, you should choose a major that is of interest to you and something that you would like to study for the next 4-5 years.

Health Professions Advisors can help you select the courses that will meet the requirements for your medical program that may not be covered by your major.
